From your phone to the school gate and back again
How it works
It is easy to get lost in the technology. There are three apps that all talk to each other. But the thing that matters is simple: one child goes to school, one sponsor knows it, and one family is rewarded for it.
Here is how it all works, in six steps
You sponsor
Download the app and set up a monthly sponsorship. The day after your first payment we match you with one child from our cleaned queue, a pupil a partner school has enrolled and our team has checked. One sponsor, one child, for as long as you keep going.
We enrol
A teacher uses the School Keeper app to enrol the pupil: class year, term, what the year costs (fees, uniform, books, meals) and anything they are missing. A parent ticks consent, and the consent is recorded against the pupil before anything else can happen.
They sign in
A tablet by the school entrance runs the School Keeper app in a locked kiosk mode. The child looks at the screen, the tablet recognises them from face samples stored only on that device, greets them by first name, and records the sign-in. No signal? It queues and syncs later.
We report
On the first of the month the platform adds up every sign-in for your child: days present, days expected, the percentage, and how that compares with the attendance the school aims for. You get it as a push notification and an email, and it lives on your child's card in the app.
The school is paid
Our team settles your child's listed costs with the school: fees, uniform, books and meals. A member of our team approves every payment. Nothing moves automatically, and every payment is recorded against the sponsorship.
You give a gift, if you like
From your child's screen you can send something the school has flagged, like shoes or books, or a fixed amount. The gift appears in the school app, the teacher buys it and confirms with a photo of the item, and you see it in your updates.
Three apps, one loop
The technology, briefly
Everything below runs on a platform that has spent years matching donors to the people they help and showing them exactly what happened. The shape is the same. The words have changed.
Donor app
Where you sponsor, meet your child, read the monthly report, see teacher updates and send a gift. Available for iPhone and Android.
School Keeper app
For partner schools. Enrols pupils, runs the entrance kiosk, records needs and fulfils gifts. Works offline and syncs when there is signal.
Admin platform
Where our team checks every enrolment before a child can be matched, approves every payment to a school and keeps an eye on every school and device.
The part that is new
The kiosk at the gate, in detail
- Enrolment takes three face samplesA teacher captures them in the app. The tablet keeps a mathematical description of the face, not the photos, which are discarded straight away.
- Nothing biometric leaves the tabletRecognition happens on the device. Our servers only ever store the fact that a child signed in, when, and on which tablet.
- Consent firstA parent or guardian ticks consent in the app before a child can be enrolled. Who consented and when is recorded on the pupil.
- Works without signalSign-ins queue on the tablet and sync when the connection comes back, so a morning without signal is still a morning on the register.
- A teacher can always step inIf the tablet cannot match a child, a teacher records the sign-in by hand with a reason. Both kinds are visible to our team.
- Deleted when the child leavesWhen a pupil leaves the school, their face data is removed from the device.

What happens to the money
Your monthly sponsorship is matched to one child's enrolment, which lists what their schooling costs: fees, uniform, books and meals, in plain words. Our team settles those costs with the school, and a member of our team approves every payment. We are deliberately keeping a person in that loop while the programme is new. Gifts are one-off payments, fulfilled by the school.
