Children walking through a school gate at dawn, a teacher at the gate with a tablet

A new way to sponsor a child's schooling in Nigeria and Uganda

Sponsor one child's schooling. See every day they turn up.

Your monthly gift keeps one child in a partner school in Nigeria or Uganda. They sign in at the gate each morning, you see every school day they turn up, and the school is paid for their costs.

We are launching with our first partner schools. Download the app to be among the first sponsors.

Choose a child, or let us

Browse by country, age and dream. Or let us give you the child who has waited longest.

A tablet at the gate

Each child signs in with their face, on the tablet only. Nothing biometric ever leaves the school.

A report every month

How many days they came, in plain numbers, beside the attendance the school aims for.

Send a gift the school asked for

Shoes, books, a uniform. The teacher buys it, hands it over, and sends you the photo.

Here is how it all works, in four steps

Simple for you. Verified at the school gate.

1

You sponsor

Download the Level Learning app and set up a monthly sponsorship. We match you with one child at a partner school, and you stay with that child for as long as you keep sponsoring.

2

The school enrols

A teacher enrols the child in the School Keeper app: their class, what the year costs, and what they are missing, like shoes or books. A parent gives consent before anything else happens.

3

They sign in every day

Each morning the child looks at a tablet by the school gate and it greets them by their first name. The sign-in is recorded. The face data never leaves the tablet.

4

You see the month

On the first of the month you get an attendance report: days present, days expected, and how that compares with the attendance the school aims for. The school is paid for your child's costs.

Keeping a child in school is one of the most tested ideas in development, and it works. The part nobody solved was proof.

Sponsorship has always asked you to take it on trust. Level Learning gives it the verification it never had: a daily sign-in at the school entrance, a monthly report for the sponsor, and a record of every day the child has actually been in class.

The report is illustrative. Names, numbers and the teacher's note are examples of what a sponsor sees, not a real child.

Beyond the monthly sponsorship

Send something the school has asked for

The school flags what your child is missing. You choose it in the app, the teacher buys it locally and confirms with a photo of the item. Or send a fixed amount and let the school decide what is needed most.

  • A pair of shoesThe most common thing a child turns up without, and the first thing schools tend to ask for.
  • Exercise books and pensSmall, cheap, and the difference between following the lesson and watching it.
  • A uniformMany schools require one. A child without it can be sent home.

Where we are starting

These are the towns where our team already has people on the ground. Our first partner schools are being signed up in the same places, so someone from the team can visit every school.

Nigeria

Northern and southern Nigeria, starting where our team already has people on the ground.

What you see, and what we never share

What you see

  • Your child's first name, age, class year and town
  • An avatar, not a photograph
  • A monthly attendance report beside the attendance the school aims for
  • Short updates from the teacher, when there is something to say
  • Photos of schoolwork or gifts, checked on the device so no face is in them

What we never share

  • A surname
  • The name of the school
  • A photograph of the child
  • Any messaging between you and the child. Updates come from the teacher only
  • Biometric data of any kind. Face data stays on the school's tablet and is deleted when the child leaves
